The Rotary Club of Marion recently brought the impactful Red Sand Project to downtown Marion, engaging community members in a powerful display against human trafficking. This nationwide participatory art installation aims to shine a light on the often-overlooked victims of human trafficking, utilizing red sand to symbolize their plight.
Participants join together to spread red sand in the cracks and seams of the pavement and sidewalks. This symbolic act serves as a reminder of how easily individuals can slip through the cracks of society.
In addition to Rotary members, the event saw participation from other community leaders and local law enforcement representatives. Nationwide, one million individuals participated in this event to raise awareness of human trafficking. This international effort spans all 50 states and 70 countries, demonstrating a global commitment to combating human traffickng through impactful outdoor art projects.
